Study

At the Institute of Educational Science, the following degree programmes are offered:

Bachelor’s programme (Curriculum)

Starting in the Winter Semester 2019/20, there is an entrance procedure for the Bachelor’s programme Educational Science. Directions and related information can be found here:

Please keep in mind:

The discontinued bachelor’s programmes in Pedagogy (17W) were renamed (due to having the same course ID number) within the Bachelor’s programme in Educational Science. For students who began their studies before the winter term 2018, the 17W will be applicable until 30.9.2022.

Master’s programmes:

The Master’s programmes serve to consolidate, deepen and specialise one’s interests based on the knowledge and skills gained while completing the Bachelor’s programme in Educational Science. It also serves to prepare students for a subsequent Doctorate programme. The Master’s programme provides a disciplinary foundation for critical and analytic thinking, serving to also recognise interrelations with transdisciplinary and international developments and to conduct one’s own research project. Furthermore, students are encouraged to develop personal, social, medial, and planning/organisational competences. Within the Master’s programme, a Master’s thesis must be completed.

Master’s programmes are offered for three specific subjects of pedagogy at the Institute of Educational Science (Curricula):

  • Master’s programme for Social Pedagogy (starting 1.10.2015)
  • Master’s programme for Adult and Continuing Education (starting 1.10.2016)
  • Master's programme for Inclusive Education (starting 1.10.2021)
    This programme is organised and administered by the Institute for Educational Research and Pedagogical Training, working area of Inclusive Education.

Information about the Module G VI (elective) - Master's programme for Adult and Continuing Eduation:

Social competence: When choosing this elective, is must be kept in mind that only 1 course per semester can be accepted. If you have already completed the listed course or a part of it, then you must choose and complete a different elective.
Furthermore, equivalent courses in English can be chosen, which do not need to be accredited:

920.054 Professional meeting skills for 920.003 Holding conversations
